DAY 1 | Saturday 19 May 2012
. . . our adventure begins!
You will meet your tour director at Sydney Airport who will escort
you aboard your morning flight to Adelaide. Your luxury coach will
be waiting with your crew to welcome you aboard, before travelling
through Adelaide city en route to the beautiful Clare Valley. There will
be time to explore and shop before booking in to our accommodation
at the Clare Valley Motor Inn. During the late afternoon we will visit
a boutique winery for a special wine tasting (right out of the barrels)
before returning to our accommodation for dinner. (B,D)
DAY 2 | Sunday 20 May 2012 . . . Woomera, rockets and history!
After a sumptuous breakfast we depart for Port Augusta for our
morning break with time to explore. Then it’s off to Woomera where
we have the opportunity to retrace the heady days of Australia’s
space efforts at the Space Park display, or have a game of ten pin
bowling at Australia’s remotest bowling alley. We overnight at the
Eldo Hotel in Woomera with time for a refreshing dip in the pool
before dinner. (B,L,D)
DAY 3 | Monday 21 May 2012 . . . desert, gold and uranium!
We travel into the desert where the temperature will steadily climb
as we reach Roxby Downs for our surface tour of the mighty Olympic
Dam gold and uranium mine – the biggest and richest mine of its type
in the world, producing gold, copper and uranium. Then it’s back to
Woomera and on to Glendambo and Coober Pedy for our stay at the
Opal Inn. (B,L,D)
DAY 4 | Tuesday 22 May 2012 . . . crystal opals in remote S A!
This morning we enjoy a town and opal mine tour before we travel
to the mysterious Breakaways with its myriad of colours (Priscilla,
Mad Max. Pitch Black and other movies were made here!) Then, on
to Marla and Erldunda for our two night stay at the Erldunda Desert
Oaks Resort. (B,L,D)
DAY 5 | Wednesday 23 May 2012 . . . Uluru and Kata Tjuta!
We travel to Mt Connor and Uluru today. We make our way into the
Uluru Kata Tjuta NP (Ayers Rock) in time to climb or walk the base.
The choice is yours. Yea! We came, we saw, we conquered!. We visit
the Cultural Centre and then Yulara Resort township for lunch and
the chance to shop. In the afternoon we head off to Kata Tjuta (the
Olgas) for a canyon walk in Olga Gorge, upon our return, we watch the
tourists at Sunset Strip as the colour of the Rock changes with the
setting sun. Here you’ll be treated to our own Black Tie champagne
service. We have dinner at the Outback Pioneer Hotel Aussie BBQ,
before settling down for our late return to Erldunda. (B,D)
DAY 6 | Thursday 24 May 2012 . . . the beauty of Kings Canyon!
Today we make our way to Kings Canyon along the Lassiter Highway.
You’ll have a chance to “walk the rim” or stroll up the canyon to admire
the sheer sandstone walls of this enchanting place; we complete our
activities before the heat of the day. Then back to Erldunda for our
afternoon break before making our way to Alice Springs for our stay
at the Aurora Alice Springs right on Todd Mall. (B,L,D)
DAY 7 | Friday 25 May 2012 . . . exploring the Alice!
This morning we travel to the Western MacDonnells, to Simpsons
Gap, Standley Chasm, Namatjira’s twin ghost gums and grave,
Connellan Airways and much more, leaving some afternoon time to
shop and explore this unique place. We dine again at the Red Ochre
Grill where you’ll enjoy the unique tastes of bush foods; afterwards,
some of our group will take a limousine to the Lassiter’s Casino to
watch the locals at work. (B,D)
DAY 8 | Saturday 26 May 2012 . . . time to fly home!
This morning there is free time to complete your exploration of Alice
Springs, or time for last minute shopping before we travel to the
airport to catch a Qantas flight back home to Sydney. (B,L)

DAY 8 | Saturday 26 May 2012 . . . heading north! This morning there is free time to complete your exploration of Alice
Springs, or time for last minute shopping before we travel to the
airport to farewell some of our fellow passengers, before heading
north along the Stuart Highway past the Tanami Track and the Plenty
Highway turnoffs to Aileron and Ti-Tree for our first break. You’ll be
forgiven to think that aliens had landed at this remote roadhouse!!
Then on past Central Mount Stuart, Barrow Creek, Wycliffe Wells and
Wauchope to the Devil’s Marbles NP. These mysterious structures
are, in Aboriginal mythology, the eggs of the Rainbow Serpent. We
explore this surreal landscape at sunset; the magic colours will
captivate all. Then on to Tennant Creek for our overnight stay at the
Bluestone Motor Inn. (B,L,D)
DAY 9 | Sunday 27 May 2012 . . . we of the Never Never land!
We travel north along the Stuart Highway to the old telegraph station
and then on to Daly Waters and the famous Daly Waters Pub for lunch.
On to Larrimah and Mataranka, “We of the Never Never fame”, to visit
the Elsey Cemetery before we arrive in Katherine for our stay at the
beautiful Knott’s Crossing Resort. (B,L,D)
DAY 10 | Monday 28 May 2012 . . fly away home; back to the cold!
We travel north along the Stuart Highway to Adelaide River for
morning tea and time to reflect at the War Cemetery for victims
of the Japanese bombing of Darwin. Then on to Darwin for our
afternoon Qantas flight home to Sydney longing for another Red
Centre Escape. (B,L,D)
